سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ
A questioner questioned the imminent torment.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
70:2Juz 29 · Madinah page 568
لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ
For the disbelievers; none can repel it.
70:3Juz 29 · Madinah page 568
مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ
From God, Lord of the Ways of Ascent.
70:4Juz 29 · Madinah page 568
تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
Unto Him the angels and the Spirit ascend on a Day the duration of which is fifty thousand years.

فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا
So be patient, with sweet patience.
70:6Juz 29 · Madinah page 568
إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا
They see it distant.
70:7Juz 29 · Madinah page 568
وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًا
But We see it near.
70:8Juz 29 · Madinah page 568
يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ
On the Day when the sky will be like molten brass.
70:9Juz 29 · Madinah page 568
وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ
And the mountains will be like tufted wool.
70:10Juz 29 · Madinah page 568
وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا
No friend will care about his friend.
70:11Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ
They will be shown each other. The criminal wishes he would be redeemed from the punishment of that Day by his children.

وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ
And his spouse, and his brother.
70:13Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَفَصِيلَتِهِ ٱلَّتِى تُـْٔوِيهِ
And his family that sheltered him.
70:14Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ
And everyone on earth, in order to save him.
70:15Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ
By no means! It is a Raging Fire.
70:16Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَىٰ
It strips away the scalps.
70:17Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
It invites him who once turned his back and fled.
70:18Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ
And accumulated and hoarded.
70:19Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
۞ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا
Man was created restless.
70:20Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا
Touched by adversity, he is fretful.
70:21Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا
Touched by good, he is ungenerous.
70:22Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ
Except the prayerful.
70:23Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَ
Those who are constant at their prayers.
70:24Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَٱلَّذِينَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَّعْلُومٌ
And those in whose wealth is a rightful share.
70:25Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ
For the beggar and the deprived.
70:26Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
And those who affirm the Day of Judgment.
70:27Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ
And those who fear the punishment of their Lord.
70:28Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ
Their Lord’s punishment is not to be taken for granted.
70:29Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ
And those who guard their chastity.
70:30Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ
Except from their spouses or those living under their control, for then they are free of blame.
70:31Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ
But whoever seeks to go beyond that—these are the transgressors.
70:32Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ
And those who honor their trusts and their pledges.
70:33Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَـٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ
And those who stand by their testimonies.
70:34Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ
And those who are dedicated to their prayers.
70:35Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ مُّكْرَمُونَ
These will be honored in Gardens.
70:36Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
فَمَالِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ
What is with those who disbelieve, stretching their necks towards you.
70:37Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ
From the right, and from the left, banding together?
70:38Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ
Is every one of them aspiring to be admitted into a Garden of Bliss?
70:39Juz 29 · Madinah page 569
كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ
No indeed! We created them from what they know.
70:40Juz 29 · Madinah page 570
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ وَٱلْمَغَـٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
I swear by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests, that We are Able.
70:41Juz 29 · Madinah page 570
عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
To replace them with better than they, and We are not to be outdone.
70:42Juz 29 · Madinah page 570
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ
So leave them to blunder and play, until they meet their Day which they are promised.
70:43Juz 29 · Madinah page 570
يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ
The Day when they will emerge from the tombs in a rush, as though they were hurrying towards a target.
70:44Juz 29 · Madinah page 570
خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
Their eyes cast down; overwhelmed by humiliation. This is the Day which they were promised.
